Breakage is rare. Slipping off the wrong size is not.
Manufacturing defects are close to negligible — every condom from a regulated producer is electronically tested for holes. What fails is use. In surveys around 45 per cent of men report using a condom that did not fit properly, and poor fit is associated with breakage, slippage, lost erection and reduced sensation.
Length matters far less than width, which is the dimension almost nobody checks. The nominal width is printed on the box, and standard sizes cluster around 52 to 56 millimetres while the actual useful range runs from about 45 to 69.
